Social Media Is Still Where Customers Spend Their Attention

It is reasonable for a business owner to wonder whether social media is still worth the effort. Algorithms change. Organic reach fluctuates. New platforms appear while familiar ones reinvent themselves.

The audience, however, has not disappeared.

Pew Research Center’s 2025 survey found that half of U.S. adults use Instagram. Among adults ages 18–29, that figure rises to 80%. YouTube and Facebook reach even larger portions of the adult population.

The global figures are just as striking. The Digital 2026 Global Overview Report estimates 5.66 billion social-media user identities worldwide. When social networks and video platforms are combined, the typical online adult spends more than two and a half hours per day in these feeds.

Small businesses already recognize the opportunity. In Intuit’s 2025 survey of 1,006 business owners and marketing leaders, 75% described social media as an effective advertising channel — the strongest result among the channels measured.

The argument for social media is therefore not that every post will go viral. It is that customers repeatedly spend time in places where a useful post can introduce a business, answer a question, demonstrate expertise, or remind someone to return.

The challenge is maintaining that presence while running the actual business. GigaDrip is built to turn work already happening — a product, project, event, listing, or win — into polished social posts that can be reviewed and published. It makes showing up easier without requiring the business owner to become a full-time content producer.

Social media still matters because customer attention still lives there. The opportunity is not to post endlessly. It is to make worthwhile visibility sustainable.
